September in Review
September. What a month!
Aside from getting back to school, we had an action packed month.
The GPPSD Elementary Fun Run was well-attended by students from across the division. The Trailblazers had a great presence and more importantly, had a great day!
The Earth Rangers stopped by to visit and brought along a couple of friends, a tropical bird and a monitor lizard. The focus of the presentation was on how to a good eco-citizen so all plants and creatures on our planet can be as healthy as possible.
Our students were educated and entertained by Evergreen Theatre. The performance was titled, Snow White and the Seven Regions. Students saw theatre, social studies, and science combine as they travelled across Canada's geographical regions in search of the best snow. On the way we learned about the impacts of climate change on ecosystems.
The month ended with an Orange Shirt Day assembly. Students gathered to learn how all of us citizens of Treaty 8 can live and learn together in the spirit of reconciliation. Our Indigenous Liaison, Jenny Lee, helped us understand the significance of Orange Shirt Day and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
