Trailblazer Literacy Week 2025
Maude Clifford Trailblazers of all ages participated in Literacy Week. Our theme was Fractured Fairytales. A fractured fairytale is a traditional fairytale that has been re-written with a twist.
We kicked off the week with an assembly that began with some teachers performing a fractured fairytale reader's theatre called the Three Pirate Pigs. It was hilarious! After the performance, teachers set up read aloud stations all around the gym. Students could sit and listen to any one of the stories. Of course they were all fractured fairytales.
Throughout the week students participated in a variety of activities planned by our Literacy Week committee. They made book marks, wrote letters to characters in fractured fairytales, dressed as their favorite book character, and attended Camp Read.
Camp Read was a school favorite. Our gathering area was full of tents and teepees. There was even a fire pit. Students could read and relax anywhere in Camp Read. Flashlights were available to illuminate the pages inside the tents.
We hope you take some time as a family to share a story on Friday for Family Literacy Day.
