Trailblazers are Classroom Champions

Classroom Champions is a non-profit organization that connects classrooms with world-class, Olympic, and professional athletes. Each school that participates in the program is connected with an athlete. Our athlete is Lucas VanBerkel. Lucas is a volleyball player from Edmonton who played professionally for 10 years. He is also an Olympian having played on Team Canada in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
Lucas has created several short videos that talk about Social Emotional Learning skills like gratitude, perseverance, and goal setting. Being an athlete who competes at a high level comes with a lot of pressure and Lucas will share his strategies for staying focused and staying positive even in times of great struggle.
Classroom Champions sent us shirts for every student. We gathered for an assembly to launch the program and to showcase our new Classroom Champion shirts. We plan to meet Lucas via video-conference in an upcoming assembly in the spring.
